Following its detection in Malta and Southern Italy, the presence of the dwarf honey bee has been confirmed in the Philippines. According to a scientific paper published in the\u00a0Journal of Apicultural Research, ten colonies were observed at four locations on the island of Mindanao: seven in Davao City, two in Panabo City, and one in Monkayo. This is the first recorded occurrence of\u00a0<em>Apis florea<\/em>\u00a0in the Philippines.
