Um estudo italiano, realizado por investigadores do CREA e publicado na <em>PLoS One<\/em>, demonstrou que \u00e9 poss\u00edvel detetar a presen\u00e7a de pelo menos oito agentes patog\u00e9nicos atrav\u00e9s da pesquisa do seu ADN ou ARN no mel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As an\u00e1lises moleculares efectuadas em 679 amostras de mel, provenientes das vinte regi\u00f5es italianas, detectaram a presen\u00e7a de DWV, CBPV, ABPV, BQCV e KBV, <em>Nosema ceranae<\/em>, <em>Crithidia mellificae<\/em>, e <em>Lotmaria passim<\/em> Este seria um m\u00e9todo de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o muito interessante, uma vez que n\u00e3o \u00e9 invasivo, n\u00e3o tem custos e pode ser efectuado com uma pequena amostra de mel. Como garantem os investigadores italianos, este m\u00e9todo n\u00e3o compromete de forma alguma a qualidade do mel, quer para as abelhas quer para o consumo humano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ser\u00e3o necess\u00e1rios mais estudos para compreender como a presen\u00e7a de ADN ou ARN de agentes patog\u00e9nicos pode ser associada a uma doen\u00e7a em curso ou utilizada para estimar a carga de agentes patog\u00e9nicos na colmeia.
