COLOSS Vespid & Virus Meeting Ended in Vienna

The COLOSS spring meeting on Vespid and Virus took place in Vienna on April 16th –17th, gathering European researchers and technicians to address key threats to bee health. Discussions focused on virus transmission between species and the spread of the invasive hornet Vespa velutina across Europe, with updates from several countries. Monitoring and containment strategies were topics, alongside operational challenges in managing the species. A citizen science project on acute paralysis virus and studies on interactions between bees, viruses, and other insects were also presented. The meeting confirmed the importance of an integrated approach to studying these risks for honey bees health.
