US Honey Bee Colony Losses Stabilize, but the Situation Remains Concerning

Honey bee colony losses in the United States have stabilized following last year’s peak, which marked the highest losses in recent years. Auburn University, in collaboration with Oregon State University and the Apiary Inspectors of America, has published the results of the latest national survey on honey bee colony losses from April 2025 to April 2026. During this period, colony losses reached 39.9%, lower compared with the previous two years, when the losses were 55.6% (2024–25) and 55.1% (2023–24).

However, a mortality rate of around 40% “is not a victory,” according to Steven Coy, President of the American Honey Producers Association, but rather “a crisis in slow motion.”
