More than 500 scientists from EU signed an open letter addressed to the European Parliament and its president, Roberta Metsola, asking to suspend temporarily the new European regulations on food safety, agriculture and animal feed.

According to the signatories – representing disciplines including ecology, toxicology, medicine, public health, physics and law – an independent investigation into their potential health and environmental impacts should be carried out first. They are not pursuing any specific political agenda; They are simply calling for adequate scientific evidence before the new rules are introduced.
