AfRAS 2026 in Uganda

The 4th Africa Regional Apimondia Symposium brought together more than 400 people from 22 countries, with 75 speakers joining us in Kampala from 25–28 August under the theme of Beekeeping for Business and Livelihoods.

Hosted by TUNADO, the symposium brought together beekeepers, researchers, businesses and development organisations from across Africa and beyond.

Sessions covered practical topics including pollination, stingless bees, apitherapy, export markets and beekeeping for improved livelihoods. Running alongside Uganda’s National Honey Week, the event was a terrific mix of scientific sessions, exhibitions and networking.

Special thanks to our Apimondia colleagues David Mukomana, Miguel Vilas Boas, János Kormendy-Rácz, Norberto García, Orawan Duangphakdee and Megan Denver, and to TUNADO, the organising committee, speakers and participants who made AfRAS 2026 such a successful event.
