Roadmap to Control Invasive Hornets

Social wasps are known as successful invasive species worldwide, that, as social apex predators, can have a significant impact on local ecosystems.

A new publication – curated by Apimondia, BeeLife, Copa-Cogeca and the European Professional Beekeepers Association (EPBA) – analyses the spread and threats posed by these insects, particularly Vespa velutina and Vespa orientalis, to the European environment, public health, and economy. We also examine the factors that led to the current epidemiological situation, and propose recommendations for action at different governance levels.
