International Day for Biological Diversity

Today, 22 May, we celebrate the International Day for Biological Diversity. This is also an important occasion for bees and other pollinators, considering that nearly 90 per cent of the world’s wild flowering plant species depend on pollinators. In addition, bee biodiversity is endangered, and the Apimondia with the Bee Biology Commission works constantly to promote and protect it.
For 2026, the theme of the International Day for Biological Diversity is “Acting locally for global impact”. Let us all take action to protect bees, plants, and the environment!
