Where is Tropilaelaps mercedesae? The Journal of Apicultural Research has published the full text of a recent survey on the distribution of this mite, based on the available scientific literature. According to the study, Tropilaelaps mercedesae has been detected in 17 countries, where it is associated with Apis dorsata, Apis mellifera, or both species.
Specifically, the mite has been detected on Apis dorsata in Sri Lanka, Laos, and Malaysia; on Apis mellifera in Russia, Georgia, Nepal, Uzbekistan, Myanmar, South Korea, and Papua New Guinea; and on both bee species in India, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. In Pakistan, the mite was detected in 2021, but the host species was not specified.
