Across the world, veterinary curricula often lack comprehensive mandatory theoretical and practical training in honey bee health, pathology, husbandry, and animal welfare. In Europe alone, 75% of veterinary schools provide only minimal education in honey bee health. To address this gap, Apimondia GVPA has launched its latest policy brief, Honey Bee Veterinary Education Advancement, and invites WOAH to urgently integrate honey bee health and husbandry training into global veterinary education. The brief also calls on to expand interdisciplinary collaboration in veterinary training and to promote global standards of “Bee Medicine Awareness.”These are two fundamental steps toward filling in this critical gap.
