Apicultores dos EUA Contra as Regras de Importação de Mel Biológico

U.S. beekeepers are challenging the USDA’s rules for organic honey imports, alleging that they are too weak. According to beekeepers, as reported by Capital Press magazine, the current rules allow honey to be labeled as organic in the United States even though it would not qualify for organic certification under U.S. standards. The main concern is that Canada’s organic standards are more lenient than those in the United States, yet they are considered equivalent for trade purposes. According to U.S. beekeepers, this creates unfair competition and results in market losses for domestic honey producers.
