The 2026 National Bee Conference ended in Rustenburg. The event gathered beekeepers, researchers and agricultural stakeholders to discuss innovation, collaboration and sector challenges. As reported by the Governament News Agency, the congress highlighted the growing potential of beekeeping in South Africa’s North West province as a driver of food security, economic growth and rural development. Participants stressed the importance of pollinators for crop production and resilience in agriculture. In addition, local beekeepers received awards for excellence in honey and bee products. The conference also adopted resolutions to strengthen bee health, protect pollinators, expand participation in beekeeping and improve cooperation among government, industry and research institutions.
