As the hot season approaches in the Northern Hemisphere, Michigan State University has shared some useful tips to help both honey bees and beekeepers cope with the summer heat. High temperatures can be stressful and even dangerous for both bees and humans. For this reason, the University has highlighted some simple but important recommendations. The guidance includes five tips for bees – covering topics such as hive and colony conditions and varroa mite treatment – and six tips for beekeepers, with a particular focus on working safely in hot weather.
